Purpose. Study of consumer preferences and quality assessment of cosmetic creams of domestic and imported production, which are sold in Odessa retail chains. Methodology. The studies were carried out using standard techniques outlined in current regulations. Organoleptic, physicochemical and microbiological research methods were used to determine the indices of consumption properties according to the current national and international documentation. Results. It is shown that national and international regulatory documents need harmonization because they have differences in safety indicators. A social survey was conducted to identify the consumer benefits of cosmetic creams. Based on these surveys, the selection of samples for the evaluation of the quality and safety of cosmetic creams, which are sold in Odessa retail chains, is substantiated. It is established that the marking, microbiological and physicochemical parameters of all tested samples meet the requirements of international and domestic standards. None of the samples tested was received a score of "excellent". TM "Nivea" and TM "Green Way" received a rating of "good", but TM "Green Way" received a better rating than known TM "Nivea". TM "Aroma" received a rating of "satisfactory", due to the unusual color and smell of cosmetic cream, which has a very bright green color and intense aroma of fragrances, not peculiar to the color and odor of olive oil. It has been established that the presence of the Penicillium mushroom, determined during the research, may indicate organic components in the cosmetic composition. It has also been established by the organoleptic method that Israeli-made TM Aroma cosmetic cream composed of flavors and synthetic dyes, which are not peculiar to the name and component composition of the cream and require further chemical research to determine the fact of qualitative falsification. In the future, study the consumption properties of cosmetic creams are proposed, taking into account the physicochemical properties according to skin type. Scientific novelty. The necessity of conducting researches of quality of cosmetic creams with consideration of hydrogen index in accordance with the type of pH of human skin has been investigated. Conducting organoleptic studies, to consider such indicators as the feeling after use, and the moisturizing and softening effect is recommended. The practical importance. The proposed studies can be used for the certification of cosmetic creams and incorporated into current regulations. The research findings can be used for further marketing research and to detect counterfeit products
