Objective. Made analysis of the properties of cellulose-containing materials from different plant materials to establish their suitability to manufacture cellulose semi-finished products in the cellulose and paper industry, and to conduct a complete study of modern technologies for cellulose production from stems and fibers of technical hemp. Methods. The research was conducted using methods based on comparative and systematic analysis, logical generalization methods, and theoretical research, based on the search and processing of information taken from the scientific collections and journal materials, as well as statistical sources of Internet resources. Results. The work identifies the main innovative technologies for the use of alternative sources of cellulose-containing raw materials in the cellulose and paper industry. In many countries around the world these raw materials are crops. The use of products of the agrarian complex of Ukraine can also be considered as one of the ways to increase the effective supply of raw materials to the cellulose and paper industry. All the by-products range of agricultural production is very large. Of all the types of non-wood cellulose-containing plant raw materials for the production of fibrous semi-finished products, the following types of crops are recognized: straw of grain crops, corn stalks, oleaginous, and other industrial crops, namely: cotton, sunflower, rapeseed, short flax fiber, flax, and hemp shives. Thanks to the analysis of properties, prospective types of raw materials have been identified: jute and technical hemp, that are fibrous materials. The wide range of uses of industrial hemp straw as an alternative cellulose-containing raw material is analyzed and its economic efficiency is confirmed. So, the analysis of the conducted research confirms the expediency and necessity of application of technical hemp straw innovative processing technologies on semi-finished products for cellulose-containing materials production. It requires not only significant investment to set up such production, but also improving the technology of primary preparation of plant raw materials, suitable for use in the cellulose and paper industry. Practical significance. Conducted theoretical research and analysis of literature sources confirm the thesis on the need to use innovative technologies for processing straw of technical hemp into semi-finished products to produce cellulose-containing materials and improving the technology of their initial preparation in the pulp and paper industry use.
